  • Nov. 11th, 2009 at 8:52 PM

I have 1 mannheim steamroller for the Nov 23rd 730pm Show. I can't go due to that will be when Warren will be here. I couldn't get a second ticket for him.

If you want it, I will set it for the cost of the ticket which is 57.00 even though I paid 75.00 for it. It is at the performing arts at the Roanoke Civic Center. 4th Row in the Orchestra section.

if interested send me a msg.

Star Fleet question

  • Nov. 10th, 2009 at 6:16 PM

Ok, need a Star Fleet questioned answered and I figured that this would be the fastest way I know how to get it done.

As some of you know, I am starting a Star Fleet chapter in Gastonia NC. Yes, I'm moving there this weekend. I have a SFMC unit that will be assigned to said ship. My question is this: When can the SFMC unit be officially linked to my ship, during shakedown or after the full commissioning in 9 months time?

Currently the unit is a MEU and once linked it will become a MSG, (and NO Keith, not mono-sodium Glutamate.

Any and all information and advice greatly welcomed and appreciated.

If you are interested in knowing... or not.. lol here is the info:

NX/USS Dakota NCC 63548
Akira Class Battle Cruiser
MEU/MSG 173rd MEU (Armor) The Black Cats
3rd BN 1st BDE 1st MARDIV (SFMC)

yup yup... It's your birthday!!

AS most of you have been following along as LOT, (boy, is that putting it mildly) has happened in my life over the past year.

I won't bore you with recounting that, but I will give you the latest update upon which has unfurled. For the past 4 months Warren my fiance from Australia and I have been working on the K1 visa that will allow him into the US. The amount of paperwork is staggering to say the least.

Through many evenings on skype double, triple checking that every form was perfect we waited with baited breath that each packet that was submitted to this department or that was correct and would be approved.

On Oct 23rd we received word (exactly 4 months from the date of the first submission), Warren received his notification that he would be granted an Visa interview from the Sydney Consulate. Today was that day! As of 11am Sydney time, he was approved for Visa! He will be moving to the US on Nov 20th.

Now for the shell shocker to some. Due to the govt and it's wisdom, we have 3 months from when he steps foot into country to get married. (I don't make the rules). So with that, we are going to do a JoP ceremony and next spring have a huge blow out so all of our friends can attend!

We will be leaving for FL on the 29th and returning on Dec 4th.

Now, I'm sure a lot of you are wondering if I'm crazy. Wondering if this is too soon after a 16 year marriage. Rhaps knows that Warren makes me happy and he is happy for me. He knows that I'm moving to NC and he is fine with that. It's my life. I'm almost 43 and it's my decision to make. But I want you all to know, that I am very happy and am looking forward to this new chapter in my life.

Happy Birthday!!!

Crosses fingers... will keep you apprised!

the car truly is its namesake!

  • Aug. 27th, 2009 at 10:36 PM

This evening I am packing to go to a SCA event in NC. I'm putting into my 2008 Honda FIT the typical and not so typical items: clothes, armor, feastgear, laptop, weapons. oh yeah!, one of the items that I am taking is my 9ft spear. That's right I said spear. Before you ask, no it isn't being tied to the top of the car, it FIT into the FIT!! With 2inches to spare!

Can't wait to see the look on the newcomer's faces when I pull out the spear!

So my car truly is its namesake! FIT!!!

Happy Birthday!

why can't I have luck like this....

  • Jul. 20th, 2009 at 11:19 PM

My sweety Warren and I were chatting on Skype this evening and he said there was a postman at the door. He puts the headset down and there was silence for a few mins. He comes back and says Oh my I just got 2 packages from the Scifi channel. He opens them and in it was every dvd of every episode of every star trek series shown and the first 6 movies.

He tells me that he had entered a contest from the scifi, err syfy, but never expected to win. There are over 100+dvds in this collection.

Now why can't I have that kind of luck!?!

To my friends

  • Jul. 17th, 2009 at 6:08 PM

Today the SCA world lost a Golden Rose of beauty, grace and courtesy. Her SCA name was Duchess Arielle the Golden. After a 9 year battle, she succumb to her cancer. The Sca world, who knew her and knew of her stands grieving.

The tales of fond memories will be told for years to come and in time will help to ease the pain that is felt right now. In the past 13 years I have lost 4 very dear friends. 3 in the SCA world and 1 in my Star Fleet world.

So tonight I shall drink different drinks to honor them, each drink made that kinda reflects their personality.

Please look past the names but look to the ingredients of the drinks.

Duchess Arielle the Golden, A fuzzy navel. Peach schnapps and orange juice. Sweet and innocent, pure.

Count Kane O'Shannon and Mistress Muirgen, Hairy navel. Vodka, schnapps and orange juice. Vodka is Kane, Strong, true and ready to bite ya if you weren't careful.
Peach schnapps was muirgen, she gave him balance.

Johnny Miller, Amaretto, straight. A real smoother when needed.

Please don't be upset with what I posted, this is my way of handling my sorrow. I loved them all very dearly.

To you my friends, I drink to you. Vivat!

Monday evening I had a tickling in the back of my throat and I felt tired, I knew that it was going to be a long week, but I went to bed and hoped for the best.

Tuesday I went to work and felt horrible all day. Yup, I had a nasty cold forming. Tuesday night while playing, (at least trying), my guildmates knew that I was sick when I tried to chat on the ventrilo (voice recognition program), and it what came out of my throats were squeaks at best.

After I finished playing WoW, I made the decision to call in because my throat hurt so bad that I knew that I wouldn't get any sleep. (Had similar symptoms to strep). I was right, I didn't get to sleep until 3am. I woke up around 1 in the afternoon. Got online for a little while, talked with my friend until he went to work, tried to play WoW, but it just didn't happen. I went back to sleep for another a few hours. Got up and ate a little broth, tried to get back online again to play WoW, ran a 5 man instance and decided that was enough. I talked to my friend once more and got off the computer.
I went into the living room and just watched tv till about 11 then went back to bed.

I knew that I was really sick when I pulled out the pink fuzzy robe, (I don't do PINK!)and WoW wasn't appealing.
I'm at work today, still feel rotten, but I'm here.

now for the shoes....

  • May. 18th, 2009 at 4:37 PM

With Michael and Starr's wedding less than a month away, I decided that I needed to get to the store and locate a dress suitable for it seeing as how I was in the wedding party as a bridesmaid.

I went to various stores looking thinking that with prom season and graduations abound, I wouldn't have a problem locating one. After 3 stores, I wasn't too sure. I finally went to DEBs and there they had a selection of dress marked down in price. I tried on 3 different styles in various shades of blue until I finally made my selection on the one I wanted.

It's a full length halter top style gown, much of the back exposed and small lacing at the mid-back.

What was nice about it, I believe that it's a size 12. So now, I have my dress, I just need to find some nice matching heels to go with it. It's a little long because I'm a little short. lol

So, should now for the shoes.... blue or black?

No place safe any more

  • Apr. 27th, 2009 at 8:05 PM

Is there a way off of this planet? I'm beginning to wonder if there is any place safe to live
anymore.

The person in this store was Rhaps' boss. Her house was less than 2 miles from the store where
she worked.

You tell me after you read this:

What Big Cat Are You?

  • Apr. 20th, 2009 at 4:57 PM

You Are a White Tiger
You have a strong individualistic streak. You are unique and outspoken.
You have firm ideas of right and wrong. You will stand up for your unpopular beliefs with pride.

You believe that learning the truth is important. Even if it's ugly, uncomfortable, or awkward.
You give it to people straight, and you expect them to do the same. You can't stand ambiguity of any kind.

Just a little too close to home....

  • Apr. 3rd, 2009 at 12:12 PM

I'm sure that many of you have read or heard about the Shooting in the area around Radford University.
What you don't know is just how close I was to the shooting. The incident happened less than 150ft outside my apt door. I heard the gunshots but wasn't entirely convinced it was real simply because it is a college town with college kids and college apts. So loud noise is common place.

It wasn't until every available EMS came rushing to the scene to help the victim. I'm sorry to say that the victim died shortly after getting to the hospital where I work. (less than 6 mins, by speeding Ambulance).

The shooter is still on the loose. RU was put on lock-down until 3am this morning. I went to bed around 1230 and there were still police on the scene with lights still flashing, so needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. But in the same token, having that many law enforcement officers in such proximity to my apt, did give me a sense of relief.

So that is the latest, as soon as I hear more, I will post.

Hugs

T-minus 4 days....

  • Mar. 24th, 2009 at 10:16 AM

Yesterday I went to my neurosurgeon for my 1 month post surgery followup. The incision site has healed. The back feels wonderful! For the first time in 9 years, I'm without residual pain in my sacroiliac.

When I spoke with my chiropractor a couple of weeks ago, he seems to think that pain in my SI stemmed from the derangement of the disk and when it finally herniated and surgery performed, it relieved the pain.

I am still having numbness in the toes but he said that will take weeks to months to clear if at all. hmm.... not to keen on that notion. He is having me start PT as soon as I get back to work which will be 2 x per week for the next 4 weeks to help strengthen the back.

He said like it or not, my back isn't normal anymore. For those that know me, I've never been "normal".
But he as cleared me to go back to work on Friday. I just have to go through the corporate hoops to get the clearance to go back. While I've enjoyed my time off, I'm actually looking forward to going back. Having money is a good thing.

surgical post-op report

  • Feb. 24th, 2009 at 10:58 AM

As some of you might know, I had my L4-5 to herniate on the 8th of Feb. After 2 trips to the ER over the course of the weekend, I was admitted by the Neurosurgeon on the 9th. On the 12th I had a unilateral diskectomy. Surprisingly enough it solved a couple of problems that I had had. (1) the herniated disk, (2) my Sacroiliac that had been paining me for 9 years.

Now for the down sides. Due to the compression on the spinal nerve bundles, both of my feet are asleep. So walking has been a real challenge. I'm starting to get feeling in my right foot. It's a start. I can't drive for a month. So going to events has been put on hold, unless I'm kidnapped and taken to the event. lol Also, I have to rely on the kindness of others to take me to the store.

I'm not allowed to work from home and because I didn't choose short term disability so, for the next 3 pay periods, I won't be drawing any income. Just have to watch my pennies for a bit.

While I was in the hospital, I was overwhelmed by the out pouring of well wishes from my family and friends. I really thought that I would be spending my time in there alone. But I was so very wrong. I was so very glad that the hospital had wifi so I could access the internet from my laptop.

I will keep you posted on my progress as things change.

Stay tuned true believers.

7 hours and counting

  • Feb. 12th, 2009 at 1:39 AM

At approximately 830am thursday morning I will be wheeled into O.R to have a bilateral diskectomy on my L4-5 that has herniated.

Not entirely what caused it, but what it has caused is severe pain in my Sacroiliac that has been bothering me for 9 years, but it has completely numbed both of my legs.

The procedure is to take approximately 3 hours. Usually a unilateral procedure takes about 90 mins. I should be in recovery around an hour or so, depending on me. lol

As soon as I am able to I will post. My neurosurgeon has told me that they are more focusing on relieving my pain, then they will worry about the numbness later. That is going to a several weeks for me to see any results on that.

I will be in PT for several weeks I'm sure. But I'm a tough old bird, I will press my therapy to my limit because I want to get back fully useful and self ambulatory.

Wish me luck!

Hugs
